Energy Wheel

Description

The activity was prepared by first reviewing it with all teachers before implementing it with the classes. An inspirational image, “The Mental Plate Model”, from an ongoing regional project was included. Teachers introduced the activity by displaying it on a screen, explaining and discussing the different sections as well as the intended goals and outcomes. Students were informed that they could draw their own proportions for each section on the document with a blank “wheel.” They then completed the different parts individually and at their own pace. Teachers were available to support students with questions or reflections that arose. The intention was to repeat the same activity approximately six months later to see whether students’ responses had changed.

Experience from the testing

Both students and teachers were positive about the activity and felt it was important, but also challenging to carry out.
