Get-to-Know Activity

Group Building

Description

Well in advance of the lesson, each student submits a photo that shows something they enjoy doing in their free time. The photo is sent to their mentor/teacher. The student themselves, or anything that could reveal whose photo it is, must not appear in the image.
The teacher saves the images in a shared folder (e.g. OneDrive), opens Microsoft PowerPoint, selects Insert, and then Photo Album, choosing the folder where the students’ photos are stored.
During the lesson, the PowerPoint presentation is shown one photo at a time. All students guess whose photo it is. Once the identity is revealed, the student briefly explains why they chose that photo

Experience from testing

The activity was appreciated by both students and teachers. It was a fun activity that led to spontaneous discussion and allowed students to get to know each other in a simple and engaging way.
