Brain Breaks

Description

The teaching teacher pauses the lesson after a chosen number of minutes. Students then take part in a short physical break. These breaks could include a quick dance, simple exercises, stretching, or other activities that increase blood flow to the brain, leading to improved focus and higher energy levels afterwards. Teachers can find suitable activities by searching for “Brain Breaks.” In this implementation, one responsible teacher introduced the Brain Break of the week to colleagues at the beginning of the week, so that all teachers used the same activity. After a few weeks, a shared activity bank was created, allowing teachers to choose freely from a range of exercises.

Experience from the testing

The majority of students appreciated the short breaks.
