Welcome to the social track in the BRIDGE project, devoted to promoting social well-being in school through high quality dialogic education. This track contains a recorded lecture, support materials, an evaluation matrix for ensuring and enhancing teaching quality, templates, etc.

Below is a guide on how to use the available material:

BASIC LEVEL

This level provides information about the basics, providing knowledge and conceptual understanding.

First, we suggest you watch the recorded lecture here [Lesson 1 – Introduction – Video]As a compliment, you may look at the slides presented in the lecture here [Lesson 1 – Introduction – PDF].

Acquaint yourself with the slides for Lesson 2 [Lesson 2 – PDF], providing some more details on how to work with high quality dialogic education in the form of philosophical dialogs, a method which can be used in many different subjects and with children and students of all ages, and with strong scientific support for its effectiveness.

Read through the ”Advancing” column of the evaluation matrix Argumentation Rating Tool [ART with permission]. This provides a model for a good dialogic education, with aims to strive for and also examples of good facilitator questions to use in the dialogs.

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL

This level provides material to support you when implementing the knowledge from the basic level into your own teaching. This level is therefore all about practice.

When planning your dialogic lesson, consider following the general structure ”Common dialogue structure”, available for download in three different formats: as a PDF [here], a .docx [here] or a .pages [here] file.

In your dialogic lessons, consider using the tool ”Create and decide rules together” [link to toolbox tool] from the BRIDGE toolbox. ADVANCED LEVEL

This level provides you with material to further and deepen your knowledge and understanding of dialogic education, and provides
