Mentors for all classes presented a slideshow explaining the connection between physical activity and learning. All guardians also received the same information. Students then completed a digital survey in which they estimated the distance to school, how they usually travel to school, and what would motivate them to walk or cycle to school (if they did not already do so).
After eight weeks, students completed the same digital survey again. The results were then shared with both students and teachers.
The results showed no change in the number of students walking or cycling to school before or after the activity.
To achieve better outcomes, we believe that guardians need to be more involved. The activity could also be made more competition-based.
